Wait, Cisco can do "rollback" too?

Juniper isn't the only vendor that can do rollbacks! Various Cisco switching platforms have it as well. Make sure you check the Cisco feature navigator and type "rollback" to see which models support it. Use "checkpoint" to save your rollback config and name it! It doesn't work exactly the same, but it can definitely help you out of a bind if you made a few changes and just want to go back to how it was before you decided that it needed to not work anymore :/

Remember Airflow Direction When Ordering Switches!

Sometimes, as network engineers, we are asked to pick out some new switches, for the data center. We can easily get wrapped up in selecting the make and model of the switch without considering the direction of the airflow in the power supplies. Will you mount in the front or the back? Where does it make sense for your port density to face? Pay attention and talk to your SE (Sales Engineer) before ordering.
Routers and Firewalls may not offer the ability to choose since those are more focused devices and are not meant to be co-mingled with servers.

Turn off the flow daemons to disable the firewall security functions and configure as a straight-up router! Requires much less horsepower to run and it's a full-featured router for labbing.
#delete security
#set security forwarding-options family mpls mode packet-based
You'll have to reboot for it to take affect.
